Recognising Young Territorians
There are a range of awards recognising young people in the Northern Territory. They range from business awards to the community involvement awards.

NT Young Achiever Awards

Managed by Awards Australia, the NT Young Achiever Awards recognise those young Territorians who have contributed positively to their communities.

Nominate an amazing young person in your community aged between 14 and 29 years!

Close of Nominations: Tuesday 13th December 2016
Judging: Thursday 16th February 2017
Gala Awards Presentation: Saturday 1st April 2017

Minister for Territory Families Excellence in Youth Leadership Award
The Minister for Territory Families Excellence in Youth Leadership Award is sponsored by the Office of Youth Affairs. This Award recognises young Territorians who have displayed initiative, innovation, a commitment to themselves and others, and the pursuit of excellence in a leadership capacity.

The Young Achiever Awards also recognises young Territorians in the following categories:

  • Northern Territory Government Young Carer's Award

  • Northern Territory Government Young Indigenous Educator Award

  • Northern Territory Government Small Business Achievement Award

  • Genesee & Wyoming Indigenous Achievement Award

  • Somerville Community Services Award

  • PTTEP Health and Wellbeing Award

  • Charles Darwin University Arts Award

  • Glencore McArthur River Mining Regional and Rural Initiative Award

  • Zip Print Sports Award

  • ConocoPhillips Environment Award

  • Australian Super Career Kick Start Award

The winner of each category will receive $2000 and a magnificent trophy, courtesy of TIO.
The Channel Nine Young Achiever of the Year will receive an additional $2000 from TIO and a state trophy.

NT Young Rural Achiever Awards

The NT Young Rural Achiever Award is presented as part of the Freds Pass Rural Show. It recognises the talents and achievements of young people in rural industries and communities. Through this Award young people are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of areas relating to rural life.

Applicants must be Northern Territory residents and aged 13 to 25 years.

Student Citizen Awards

Nominations have now closed for the 2017 Australia Day Student Citizen Awards.

Sponsored by the Department of Education, these awards recognise excellent citizenship within the school community.

The program is FREE and every Northern Territory School is encouraged to participate.

Young Australian of the Year Awards

The Young Australian of the Year Award recognises outstanding and exceptional young Australians aged 16 to 30 years. Each year, eight young Australians are recognised as national finalists in the Awards.
