Health

Health is more than just preventing and treating disease. Health is also about your physical, social and emotional well-being and there are a lot of things that can affect it. Moving into adulthood involves a new independence and the freedom to experiment.

Many young people engage in risk-taking behaviours and some of these, such as alcohol, tobacco, illicit drugs, or unsafe sexual activity, can have a detrimental impact on your health.

Housing

Territory Housing, within the Department of Housing and Community Development provides young people aged 16 and over with public housing and housing assistance.

In recognition of the difficulties that young people may experience in accessing and maintaining housing, support is also provided for specific youth projects, usually through community organisations.

Education

Young Territorians are not only an important part of the community today, they are our future. The economic growth and prosperity of the NT is dependent on the development of a vibrant, flexible and skilled workforce that can meet current and emerging needs.

To do this, young people need to be able to access high quality learning and employment opportunities.

The law can be rather scary when you don't know what it's all about. The good news is that there is plently of info about the legal rights of under 18's ranging from getting your drivers licence to who has the right to search you. Get informed, know your rights
